I am Malala - Book review

I am Malala: The girl who stood up for education and was shot by the Taliban

To begin, this book is an autobiography of Malala Yousufzai, written by Malala Yosufzai and co-authored by journalist Christina Lamb. I wanted to read this book ever since I started following Malala (@MalalaFund) on twitter, and then I won a couple of flipkart vouchers following which I decided to get this e-book.

The AutoBiography (a fearless memoir)
The story begins with the prologue dating to that day when a young Taliban gunman stops a school going tempo shouting "Who is Malala, Who is Malala, and ends up shooting at her head"

Malala, a girl from the Swat valley, belonging to the Pushto tribe at the Pakistan- Afghanistan border, born to a father, who is an educationalist and runs a small girl school with a vision to educate girl children and an illiterate mother who takes care of the house. She always had a dream to become a doctor, but she believes in her father who says she should become a politician.
The autobiography progresses continuing how she grew up and how the school they owned developed from a few children to upto 300 children.
Soon after 9/11, life changes in the valley, with progressing years Taliban rises to power and soon puts a ban on girls education. Yet a passionate Malala decided to combat the decicion of the Taliban and decided to go against the ban.
She soon is recognized  by Abdul Hai Kakar, who in 2008, at a tender age of 11 give her a chance to report, where she starts under a pseudoname of Gul Makai. There also were a couple of wars during this period at Swat valley, where many were killed, and many more were targetted including Ziauddin Yousufzai (Malala's father) who move away from the valley for a few months and then return back to the valley after the Pakistani Army had won the battle against the Taliban. Yet, during
The book further continues showing sections on how she grew to power and was realized as a threat by the Taliban and how a tactical plan to finish her was proposed. But, she lives to tell her tale and to fight for the rights of girl education.

Would I recommend ?

Yes I would definitely recommend this book, especially to teachers and to those people of the country who still fell women are made to sit at home and raise the family and its pointless educating them.

Rating ?

I can't rate this for its an autobiography, and not a story plot which can be judged. Its a book based on  real life incidences of Malala.

One Liner :

This is a powerful book about a girl who escapes after being shot in the head for standing up against the Taliban after they had put a ban on girls education.

Final Say:

A must read for those who wanna know about this Nobel Peace Prize winner - Malala Yousufzai, the struggles she went trough and how she became a target for the message she wanted to spread.

To Add : On 10/10/14 she becomes the youngest at the age of 17 to win the Nobel Peace Prize for contributions and efforts shes continued showing after being shot in the head.
